Welcome 2023 Season

Hello Dear Lavender Loving Friends,

Hope this newsletter finds you and your loved ones happy and healthy. We miss you and look forward to welcoming you all back this season.

To all our new Subscribers, Welcome to the OVLF Family. We're happy you're here and can't wait to see your smiling faces soon.

We are happy to announce that Opening Day for the 2023 season will be Friday, May 5. Our hours will remain Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays from 10 am – 5 pm. We have a number of private events this season that will require us to be closed on specific days so be sure to check our website for possible closures. To make your visit more enjoyable, be sure to visit the Important Info page as well as the FAQ page.

We’ve been incredibly blessed to welcome guests onto our property for 8 years now. The subject of an Admission Fee comes up every season. Those of you who know us know that this is something we’ve struggled with since we first started our farm in 2015.

Our intention has always been, and continues to be, to share our peaceful oasis with visitors so that they may experience the healing energy that exists here. It is our desire that when our guests leave, they do so a little happier than when they arrived. It gives us great joy seeing our guests enjoying their time here, whether it's connecting with us by sharing personal heartfelt stories and experiences, taking selfies and making memories, or listening to bird songs and watching the bees, butterflies, and dragonflies making their way through the gardens, or just soaking in the sun and enjoying the peace and tranquility. We've always been against charging admission but, unfortunately, we can no longer continue to absorb the costs of being open to the public. Therefore, in an effort to offset the many expenses associated with keeping the farm open for visitors to enjoy, starting this June through the end of August there will be a $5 per person admission fee – CASH ONLY. Children under 10 are free.

Over the years we've learned that we can't make everyone happy,

and we accept that this sacred space we call home is not for everyone...

and that's okay.

How crazy is this weather!! I don't recall ever getting up in the 80's in April. The gardens are exploding with growth and color. Some of the lavender is starting to green up. While this is beautiful to watch, it also makes me a little nervous... praying we don't get hit with a frost!!

Lavender Care Tips:

  • Be Patient!! Waiting for the lavender to bloom can be torture. Sometimes, lavender takes its sweet time coming out of dormancy making us think it's dead (said in a whisper). If it's late in the season and you're not sure, do what I call The Bend Test. What's The Bend Test?? I'm glad you asked. Just take one of the "branches" and bend it. If it doesn't snap off there's still life in it. You can also scratch at the base of the plant and if you see green, leave it alone.

  • Be sure to clean away debris that may have accumulated at the base of the plant that will trap moisture. Remember, Lavender likes it dry.

  • Do Not prune yet. If you didn’t get a chance to prune last fall, you can prune in the spring but you must wait until the danger of frost has passed.

Remember, I'm here to help so please call me or email me with your questions.

We've been working very hard getting the property and the shop ready for you to enjoy. We're stocking up on all our best-selling lavender products and we’ve added a few new products this season that we can’t wait to introduce.

Our calendar is filled with lots of fun events planned for this season, some of which are already listed on our Events Page.

Last season we introduced a number of Petite Retreats and events that focus on YOU!! They were so well received that we have decided to add a few more to this season's calendar. These events aim to provide a safe space for sharing, learning, setting goals and intentions, self-discovery and growth, support and encouragement, soul searching, and healing. We hope you're able to join us.

Taking good care of yourself is not selfish, it's a necessity!

We're thrilled to continue our partnership with Bank Street Creamery for our deeelicious Lavender Ice Cream made exclusively for us using our Lavender Extract and Honey from the hives on our farm. The freezer will be stocked so bring your coolers to take some home because you never know when the craving for lavender ice cream will hit you!!

We’re looking forward to welcoming you and sharing our “farm sweet farm” with you.

With Love & Gratitude,

Monica & Jim
