Can I visit the Farm?Yes!! We love visitors!! Please be aware that you are visiting a private residence and we ask that you treat it with respect. Well-behaved children are welcome and must be supervised at all times. We have a NO PET Policy. Only Service Dogs are allowed. Please visit our Admissions Page as well as our Farm Policies Page. Please also keep in mind that when we opened our farm to visitors it was, and still is, our intention to share the beauty and healing energy of the property in the hopes of bringing much-needed peace into the lives of our guests. It is our desire that when our guests leave, they do so a little happier than when they came in. It gives us great joy to see our guests enjoying themselves during their visits with us, whether it's taking selfies with family and friends, picnicking and making memories or just soaking in the sun and enjoying the peace and tranquility. So, while we do allow visitors, we hope that you support our ability to stay open by visiting the shop and purchasing some of the many handmade artisan lavender products or one-of-a-kind items made by local artisans. When is the Lavender in Bloom?That can be a tricky question to answer as we are at the Mercy of Mother Nature and She determines the bloom times as well as the duration of the blooms. We have different varieties that bloom at different times. Typically, our English Lavenders will start blooming in June. They will sometimes give us a second bloom in late summer. Our French Lavenders will typically start blooming in July. Depending on the weather, Lavender Season may last from June until August. Is there a fee to get in?There is a $5 Admission Fee during Lavender Bloom Time. Admission Fee must be paid in Cash. Children 10 and under are free. Do I need an appointment to visit?Sometimes. Appointments are not necessary when visiting during normal operating hours: Fridays, Saturdays, & Sundays from 10 am - 5 pm from May - December. Groups of 8 or more must contact us prior to visiting. Please send your email to monica@orchardviewlavenderfarm.com. We sometimes have special events/activities which require appointments and/or tickets. These events/activities are posted on the Events Page. Do you host private events including Weddings & Showers?Yes. When we started our little lavender farm we just wanted to grow lavender, share it with visitors and sell lavender products in our shop. We never imagined that the property would ever be considered for anything other than that. But, much to our surprise and delight, we’ve received so many requests from visitors who want to either get married here or host a private events. What is there to do at the Farm?The Farm is a very special place and is perfect when you need to escape the pressures of life. Visitors can bring a blanket and picnic basket and find a quiet spot on the property and read a good book or just come and enjoy the peace and tranquility. Please be aware that you are visiting a private residence and we ask that you treat it with respect. Well-behaved children are welcome and must be supervised at all times. You can stroll in the lavender field and walk around the property. Our property is the perfect place to meditate or do yoga or practice Tai Chi or Qigong. You can visit the Lavender Farm Stand and shop our many specialty handmade artisan lavender products including bath and body, household, culinary and teas. We also carry a beautiful line of aromatherapy jewelry and essential oil as well as unique home decor and accessories. We also host a number of events throughout the season. Do you have parking?Yes, we have a designated parking area and there is no fee for parking. Can I bring my dog?NO. As much as we love our four-legged friends, due to negative experiences and irresponsible/inconsiderate pet owners, we were forced to impose a No Pet Policy. Services Dogs are permitted. Service Dogs walk beside their handler. They do not bark, sniff, jump, visit, urinate or defecate while working. They are not held in the arms of their handler. Please note NJ has a "fake service dog/animal" law: N. J. S. A. 10:5-29.5 Introduced in 2013: an offender shall be fined not less than $100 and not more than $500. Emotional Support Dogs (ESD) do not qualify as a Service Animal under the Americans With Disabilities Act. We reserve the right to refuse any pets whose function is not that of a service animal. What is Lavender?The short answer is, Lavender is an herb belonging to the mint family. There are over 450 lavender varieties or cultivars with more being developed. There are many uses for lavender including culinary, landscaping, aromatherapy and crafting. It can take 3 - 5 years for lavender to be fully mature depending on the cultivar. Do you sell lavender plants?No, I'm sorry we do not sell lavender plants. However, you may visit our friends at Well Sweep Herb Farm and Fern Valley Farms which are only a couple of minutes away. They have a huge variety of herbs and perennials including lavender. Please call ahead to make sure they have what you're looking for. In addition, you may also visit our friends Cierech's Greenhouse which is about 30 minutes away but worth the trip. Can I buy food or drinks at the farm?Depending on the time of year, you may find Lavender Ice Cream, Lavender Cookies, Lavender Cupcakes, Lavender Brownies and Lavender Chocolates for sale which are made exclusively for us using our lavender extract and gourmet sugars. Are there bees on the farm?Happily YES!! We currently have five honey bee hives on our property that are maintained by our good friends at Woodsedge Tree Farm. Not only do the bees give us delicious honey but they also pollinate our lavender as well as our gardens throughout the property. The field is always buzzing with bees when the lavender is in bloom. Honey bees and bumble bees are not agressive as long as you treat them with respect. If you are allergic to bees please be aware and plan accordingly.
