About the Event

Orchard View Lavender Farm is proud to present an Ayurveda Petite Retreat hosted by Vibha Rana, Founder & Owner, Green Tulip Health & Wellness, LLC. Vibha is a Certified Ayurveda Consultant & Therapist. She is regularly involved in offering Ayurveda Workshops, Events & Retreats. She sees private clients in her Hackettstown NJ office.

This Ayurveda Petite Retreat is also hosted by Mary Ellen Moses, E-RYT, NJLMT, MLDT.  Mary has been teaching Yoga for over twenty years, fourteen of which she owned Awakening Point Yoga Studio in Hackettstown. She facilitates an annual women’s wellness weekend and day retreats and has a passion for natural healing.

What is Ayurveda?  Ayurveda is a natural health and wellness system that originated in India more than 5,000 years ago. The word Ayurveda is derived from the Sanskrit words Ayur, meaning “life”, and Veda, meaning “knowledge” - an ancient holistic system centered and based on the five great elements to restore harmony and balance. Universal interconnectedness lies at the heart of Ayurveda. Coming to an understanding of our ideal state of balance (prakriti) which is our individual constitution and the subtle energies called (doshas) help us to understand our relationship with the environment, food, seasons and much more.

Immerse yourself in the ancient tradition of Ayurveda & Yoga in an idyllic setting and picturesque surroundings.  The day will begin with Yoga in the lavender field with live music. Mary will guide you through a gentle yoga practice which emphasizes grounding, deep breathing and focusing your attention inward to prepare you for the day.

Ken Meyer, our guest musician, will accompany the postural practice with deep, soulful rhythms using a variety of percussion instruments.  Born in Philadelphia, PA Ken studied percussion as a teenager at Settlement Music School before obtaining a Bachelors Degree in Music from Temple University.  He has performed as a professional musician in theaters and in bands up and down the east coast and taught lessons privately. More recently, Ken has been facilitating Drum Circles and Gong Meditations in the Poconos and Catskills Mountains for many resorts, yoga studios, libraries, and community centers.  Ken’s approach to supporting the meditative process and flow of movement in Yoga is to provide the appropriate sonic foundation for the mind and body to ride on and swaddle in. Using sounds of nature and it’s elements of life and stillness, Ken aims to create a unique background to aid the participant on their journey. Gongs, Native American drums, and instruments from around the world all come together to create a unique, sometimes other worldly palette of sound.

Vibha's Ayurveda Workshop will teach you the concept behind the Ayurveda wellness that can support you in self-healing by learning to reduce stress, improve digestion, reduce inflammation, live consciously, and enjoy more sustainable energy. You will learn to listen to your body and discover how it can help you maintain healthy habits after the Retreat.  Vibha will also show you how to incorporate specific spices into your diet with a live cooking demonstration. Later you will create your own Ayurveda Vision Board guided by Vibha.

Chef Ed Oliveira has created a delicious vegetarian lunch menu inspired by the Ayurvedic principles using fresh organic ingredients for you to enjoy:

Mixed Greens, Roasted Carrots, Sunflower Seeds, Radish, Ginger Carrot Dressing

Masala Roasted Tofu with Coconut Sauce

Basmati Rice with Peas, Raisins, Almonds

Ginger & Tumeric Roasted Vegetable Medley

Herb Roasted Chickpeas with Asparagus

After you discover more about Ayurveda and your body type/dosha, Mary will lead a meditation with guidance on how to modify to benefit your particular needs based on your dominant dosha type.
